What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?

TCM is a natural, holistic approach to health that has been practiced for thousands of years. It includes therapies such as acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine, cupping, gua-sha, qi gong exercise and dietary recommendations. TCM utilizes theories rooted deeply in Chinese philosophy and culture. It focuses on harmonizing human body and the universe and promoting human body’s natural healing defense mechanism.

Is acupuncture painful?

Most people find acupuncture to be very gentle. You may feel a tiny pinch when the needle is inserted, followed by sensations like heaviness, tingling, warmth, or a dull ache.

Is it safe?

Yes, the practitioner has all the required training, education, certification and licensure to deliver a safe acupuncture treatment.  We use sterile, stainless steel, single-use, disposable needles and follow strict safety and hygiene protocols.

What is cupping therapy and what does it do?

Cupping is a TCM therapy where suction cups are placed on the skin to increase circulation, relieve muscle tension, and promote healing. It’s commonly used for pain, tight muscles, colds, fatigue and internal disharmonies. Some mild bruising may occur and is completely normal.

Can I take Chinese herbs with my current medications?

Before taking any herbal medicine, please consult with your primary care physician or specialist or healthcare providing team. Herbal medicine can be very effective, but it’s important to ensure there are no interactions with your current medications or health conditions.
